The Knit Dress

Photograph by LittleGirl
Sorry for the ratty hair & no makeup...
just haven't got around to that today .
Sometimes, every day is a Monday. :)

Do you think the hemline needs
to be shortened?
Leave me a comment!

Think this will be my go-to Spring/Summer Dress. I used a comfy dress from my closet as a pattern.
I'm not 100% thrilled with the neckline, but I can live with it. :)
I REALLY like this knit fabric.
It's thick enough to hang nicely, yet lightweight enough to be breathable and cool.

The fabric is from Joann's, though I can't remember the manufacturer's name; and sadly, cannot find it online. Sigh.
UPDATE:  I tweeted to ask, and Joann's answered back!
The fabric is called 'Global Voyager' and is available online.

Have you sewn with knit fabric? What do you like/dislike about it?

What are you creating today?

Happy Thursday!
(or Friday if you are reading
this from your newsletter!)

  1. I don't know if you have to shorten it. It looks good!
I got a serger for Christmas several years ago and love to serge up some knit garments every once in a while. LOVE the thing!

  2. I think it looks great - and since I haven't seen your pretty face in a bit you look adorable :) The hemline is perfect in my opinion.

  3. I think the hemline is fine, but I wear my dresses/skirts (on the rare occasion that I wear them), a little long. You could probably go up a couple of inches, if you want.

  4. I like the length. It will swish beautifully as you walk. Like a princess !

  7. I love the dress! You've inspired me to go in and make myself a skirt or dress this weekend. Hubby bought me a serger for Christmas and I still haven't used it. I don't see ratty hair. And you look gorgeous without make up, so I don't know what you're talking about, lol. Hemline is perfect! Awesome fabric! Great job, friend. :)

    1. How'd your dress or skirt turn out? Did you get a change to stitch it up?
It took me a year before I was brave enough to turn on my serger. I ended up taking a Saturday morning class to learn how to use it. Best $20 I ever spent!
Thank you for your kind words. You are a true friend, friend. :)

    1. Thanks, Melissa! I ended up keeping the length. I've been happy with that decision so far. :)
