Sewing Projects

I certainly got sucked in to social media the last few days. I'm ashamed to admit I told my kids to play video games for over an hour last evening while I followed TV news, Twitter, & FB as the manhunt for the Boston Marathon Bombings suspect unfolded. This 'abandon' choice is a difficult one at times. Sigh.

I still have no photos of the dress or skirts I've sewn for myself. If you have to wait for me to take snaps, there may never be a blog post; so you'll have to make due with what I have stitched & photographed for now.

Business Card Holder
Using this tutorial from My So Called Green Life

A Pillowcase Dress for LittleGirl
She decided she didn't want it, so it was sent
to AL to another sweet little girl. :)

Cross-body cellphone and business card holder
A gift for Rebecca at Mom's Mustard Seeds
She has an upcoming conference, and I thought she might
like to keep her hands free while she is at the event.
If you are a homeschooler, you might look into
the Teach Them Diligently conference.
I hear it is fabulous!
Back of the cross-body holder. No pattern used.
4 Charm Squares cut in half for outer bag,  4 charm squares for lining
1 charm square folded & topstitched for pocket
Ribbon strap, button & hairband elastic closing
Easy project!

It feels good to show you what I've been sewing, though I don't expect to be posting this regularly. Three posts in one week...yikes! ;) Remember to keep Texas in your prayers. At last report, there are still 60 people who are unaccounted.

What projects have been keeping you busy?

Happy Saturday!

  3. I was glued to the TV too last night. I finally went downstairs to walk on my treadmill while I watched the news unfold - walked way longer than I usually do, so that's one positive, lol.

You've made such fun crafty things. Glad you could find someone to wear that cute dress. Your card holder and bags are really nice too! I've wanted to make myself a bag for, oh, over three years, but I always find something else to do. I didn't even keep one of my zipper pouches for myself back when I was on a roll with those. What I really need is a camera bag now though.

I completely understand your decision not to blog as much. It's something I've wrestled with too (I think most of us do, quite honestly). Nice to see you again, though!

    1. Thanks, P.! It was good to be sewing & blogging again. :)
Now, you've got to get going on a bag for yourself. If it turns out anything like your gorgeous quilts, it'll be fabulous.

  4. I swiched to DVD long ago to avoid the talking heads that say the same thing over and over via speculation, just because they like the sound of their own voice.

    1. Great idea about the DVD. Honestly, twitter had it going on with the news. As long as I could keep up with the tweets, I knew what was happening about 10 minutes before any of the talking heads. :)

  5. I really like the credit card/business card wallet - pinned that one for myself...

    1. I like it too, Melissa! It was so easy to put together from scraps I had on hand. It only took about 20 minutes to complete. Thinking I might stitch one up to hold all those store 'bonus' cards that take up so much space in my wallet.

    1. Thanks, Aurie! Yes, pull that machine out. The time for spring sewing has arrived. ;) The only thing that would have made our chat better is if you had joined us too.

  7. Sorry, I too have been in abandon mode, really cutting down on blogging and blog reading since starting my job. I had even forgotten that I have a twitter account, lol. I'm tempted to ditch the whole online thingy and get back to basics, but I'm still here or there, stuck I guess, like a flea on fly paper. ;-) Good to hear from you. We need to meet up again soon. Blessing.

    1. I loved that dress, too, Shay. Can you believe the little booger wouldn't even try it on when I finished it? I guess pink zebra is not her thing anymore. ;) Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Thanks, Angie! I really liked the business card holder too. Think I might stitch up another to use for all those store bonus cards. And then, if I really get in a sewing mood...I think I'll stitch up several to use as gift card or cash holders for birthday celebrations later this year. :)
