Since I've talked about it so much, I feel as though I need a badge or button for Week of Momma. Start a trend, or something. Hmmm...will have to work on that.
Week of Momma yesterday just flew by! Honestly, I have no idea where the time went. I awoke later than my usual early-bird time, which set me back a bit. Then, I went on an expedition. During my QT, I was looking at 1 Corinthians 13:8-13. Some of the verses just needed extra attention. I needed to untangle the thoughts those verses produced by searching some commentaries (and chattin' on Twitter with my #HelloMorning girls). That bible dig lead me down some rabbit trails, and a couple of hours went by the wayside...in a good way. Feeding my mind and soul is a good thing, though. :)
Yiayia stopped by unexpectedly. I always love when she visits. She tells the best stories. :) So another hour gone by. More time was spent on a fabric expedition. You know those kitchen curtains I keep talking about? Still haven't sewn them. I knew I had the 'right' white fabric to make the curtains somewhere in my stash. Knew it. After about an hour of searching, I had an "Aha!" moment. Remember this?
It's the curtains from LittleGirl's bedroom makeover. A few months back she wanted all-blue sheer curtains instead. We pulled the white curtains down, and put up the blue. They are the perfect size and length (minus the blue band at the bottom) for the big kitchen window. No point in reinventing the wheel, right? Today, I'll remove the old band, and re-purpose these curtains for the kitchen. Hooray!
The rest of my day was spent running errands I didn't want to run, but they had to be run. (That could be a song lyric, don't you think?) When we returned (yeah, I said 'we'. They weren't MY errands to run.), I sat myself in front of the computer and my favorite dress denim pants. I was determined to get those jeans reverse-engineered. Have I told you how much I love this class? Kenneth King is a fantastic instructor. I love that I can start-and-stop the class anytime I need to view something again. Actually, I got a good bit done. Here's my progress...
I only had to un-baste 3 times. Yep. I did it wrong and had to pull out my basting stitches. 3 times. I seriously think my left-handedness (is that even a word?) renders me incapable sometimes. Doing things opposite of the right-handed world messes with my brain at times. Anyhoo, after I got to a stopping point, I had to tweet about my accomplishment.
By then, it was way past supper time. By the way, the kids have revolted. They wanted a real meal, prepared by Momma. I acquiesced, and made my quick version of Chicken Cacciatore, which isn't all that quick. It still took an hour to prepare. They loved it, and all was right with the world then. Dinner was so late, by the time we finished, it was almost bedtime for me. So, Week of Momma Day 3 didn't go as planned; however, I still feel good about the progress being made. I'm looking forward to today and all I can stitch up!
How do you handle unexpected plans?
Do you 'roll with it' or have a meltdown?
