Au Courant

In an effort to In an effort to actually CREATE instead of
simply reading and being inspired,
Thursday's posts are all about my latest crafting efforts.

My sewing machine was humming this week! I stitched up some bookmarks. Here are a couple still awaiting monograms...

I also created a little wristlet.
Inspired by a purse I purchased for LittleGirl
from the fabulous  Jenn at Life in Bonetown,
I whipped up this...

It's pleated inside and out, has a rounded bottom
and is very roomy inside.
It zips up for easy security with a cute little zipper-pull we made.
It's the perfect size for a girl of 8...about 12" wide x 6½" tall.
This was a birthday present for one of LittleGirl's friends.

I LOVE when an idea in my head actually turns out
EXACTLY as I planned. ☺

Here's the inside...

I'm thinking about whipping up some more of these...and one for me, too!

We had a tremendous storm blow through our neighborhood last evening. Son#1 said, "Mom, it's really dark at the back of the house."

I told him rain was forecasted, please go take down the flag from the front porch. Only a moment later, I heard the wind blowing. I peered out the window and saw our huge oak trees bending almost to the ground. The microburst blew debris, swirling all around our house. Limbs dropped, leaves flew, and our next-door neighbor had the top of one of his oaks sheared off...right into the road.

Power is out in several places throughout the city, though we didn't lose ours. There are several other trees that were uprooted and blocking our roads this morning. I'm on my way outside to begin cleaning up the mess. Before I go, I wanted to give a shout-out to my boys. As soon as they heard a chainsaw, they looked outside and saw our neighbor trying to remove the tree from the road. Son#1 and Son#2, without hesitation, grabbed their work gloves and ran over to help. I'm so proud of them and their serving hearts! Aren't they just the best little men ever? ☺

What are you crafting this week?
Happy Thursday!
