Au Courant - Dress

In an effort to In an effort to actually CREATE instead of
simply reading and being inspired,
Thursday's posts are all about my latest crafting efforts.

There's been little crafting and sewing going on at Spíti tou Seams Inspired. Summer is time for lazy days, relaxing and soaking up sunshine. My summer has been anything but that! LOL I've been working on Caddie...dropping out her fuel tank for a cleaning, and changing out her spark-plug wires.  (When you have an older car, replacement part maintenance is a must!) Ummm...yes, you read that right. I've been a grease-monkey this past week. I think there's still some grease embedded in my nails. It's actually kind of fun work! But I've digressed...Kids want to be entertained, grass wants to be mowed, and life is full. So full, I am going to break from posting daily. One or two posts a week is all I'm resolving to write at this point. So, what did I sew?

I modified a dress I wore for Easter services last year. I have no photos full-length, but you can view it here on the video to get a better idea of it's original design.

I made the original dress from three t-shirts. It's so easy-peasy, that it only took about 30 minutes from start to finish. While I really liked the original dress, I was in desperate need for summer attire. I mulled around my closet, and pulled this dress out, when inspiration struck.

With a seam ripper and sewing shears, I had a summer dress in less than 15 minutes! Here's the dress now...

That's not a tattoo! That's a watermark. ☺
It's so comfortable and soft! I do believe it's my new go-to dress. I've worn it twice since Monday. ☺ The handkerchief hemline is VERY popular in the fashion world right now. Because of its design elements, the skirt's hemline forms itself. Since it's knit, there is really no need for hemming the skirt. LOVE that!

I also like that it washes and dries beautifully, and no ironing is necessary. Just yank it out of the dryer, and she's ready to wear. Pair it with a belt or scarf (I've worn it both ways), and you're ready for your day!

I didn't have time for a new tutorial for this dress; however, I was so thrilled with this look, I purchased some t-shirts yesterday to create my 4th-of-July party dress. I'll snap photos along my sewing way, and post a tutorial Saturday morning.

What are you crafting this week?

Happy Thursday!

I'm also linking up with the fabulous AmyLouWho's Sew & Tell .

It's been too long since I've joined in that sewing fun. Can't wait to see what others have been sewing. Happy Friday! ☺
