Frugal Grocery February - Week 2

How was your weekend? Mine was spent completing some sewing jobs. No, not the Postage Stamp Quilt. Honestly, after the Great Thread Melting Fiasco, I've lost my desire to sew that quilt. It's sitting there, staring at me with its cute Punctuation fabrics mocking me. I'm not a quitter. I WILL SEW THAT QUILT...just not this week. :o)  Instead, I stitched, stitched, stitched and crossed a lot off my list!

◘  1 Embroidered Tote Bag

◘  2 Monogrammed Pillowcases

◘  4 Pairs of Jeans Hemmed

I still have two pairs of jeans to hem, and hopefully will get those finished this afternoon. LittleGirl has a little fever virus, so today will be touch-and-go in the sewing room...after schooling the boys. I'm crossing off all these jobs so I can sew for myself. I've been glossing over the pattern books and thinking of Spring and Summer. Those gorgeous knits at Fabric.com are screaming, 'Buy Me!' I'm thinking a few knit dresses...something I can throw over my head and just go...will be perfect for the warm seasons. What are you sewing for next season? Anything for yourself?

Frugal Grocery February - Week 2

I clipped and clipped, and collected a boxful of coupons. I scoured the papers, surfed the web, and found...no deals. Apparently, in honor of the Superbowl, all the sales were devoted to Snack Foods last week.

Since my goal is to create a 6-month supply of hygiene basics, I'm awaiting for this weeks' sales. In my area, grocery sales run from Wednesday to Wednesday. Walgreens and Rite-Aid have sales from Sunday to Saturday. While I could pick up toothpaste for 25¢ at Walgreens, it's not the brand we use. I cannot justify stockpiling items we won't use. If you like to brush with Colgate, you might want to stop by Walgreens. So my total spent this week was...$0.00 with a closet full of nothing.

Hope you faired better than me this week. I suppose nothing spent is better than, well, nothing. :o)

Happy Monday!

Now run along over to Mrs. P's at Quilting in My Pyjamas and see how she did with her Frugal Grocery list last week.
