Go Take a Peek Outside Tonight

If you're visiting today, Welcome!
Please leave me a comment and let me know you've stopped for a look.
If you're a new follower, I'll come check out your blog too! :o)

There's something simply glorious about looking at stars, isn't there? For me, it matters not whether it's a warm Summer night with a soft breeze, or I'm bundled up in my coat and a blanket on a crisp Winter night. I like to find the constellations; and have always taken great comfort in the fact that this big world isn't so big because I can see the same Big Dipper you're viewing in your sky.

I've been known to awake my children in the wee hours of the morning to catch a meteor shower at its peak. Tonight, I don't have to do that. We can simply walk outside before bedtime and see something spectacular.
Jupiter, our solar system's largest planet, is the closest it will be to Earth since 1963. Yep. You read that right. It's been 47 years since Jupiter's been this close to us...368 million light years. It won't pass this close again until 2022. Your babies will be grown...gasp!

Take yourselves and your family outside tonight. You don't need anything special to view it, because it will be the brightest 'star' in the sky. The only thing brighter will be our moon. If you live in the US, go out at sunset and look to the low east for Jupiter.

Of course, if you have a pair of binoculars or a telescope, you'll be able to catch some of its fine details. While peering through your telescope, if you happen upon a greenish-looking disk, congratulations! You've found another planet that's passing near us...Uranus. On a completely different note, I've discovered some new ideas that will help with my Fall Cleaning and Organization. I'll be posting more about that later this week. Right now, I'm getting ready for my BigFallYardSale! The whole family's on board (well, the kids are...that's half the battle, right?) with the clean-out. The kids want to incorporate a bake sale. It's going to be a busy week! Happy Monday!
