Wii Fit Hula Hooping and My Measuring Tape

This is my post from yesterday.
It's not even 6am, and LittleGirl is awake and chatty.
Momma cannot collect her thoughts enough to write, so I hope yesterday's post provides some inspiration.
Happy Wednesday! :o)

You see my list over to the left? The one that has Skirt or Dress for Me written on it? I decided it was high time I sewed for me. I'm in need of some new clothing for Fall. Well, not in need, but I would like to use up some fabric in my stash. In case you don't know me, I like to sew using patterns I draft myself. I prefer my own designs, especially for skirts, rather than modifying one of the Big4 patterns.

What comes first in drafting your own pattern? Measurements. I keep these measurements in a little book, along with the date. Looking back, I realize it's been a while since I made myself a skirt. Hmmm...That's what I'll sew.

I pull out my measuring tape and wrap it around my waist.
Same measurement as last time. I record it in my book. Wrapping the tape around my hips, I look down at the number. What? That can't be right! I look back to my book, and then re-measure. Woo-hoo! I've lost half an inch in my hips! Yeah! :o)

I owe it all to my kids' WiiFit. Over the last week, I've been Hula-Hooping to beat Son#1's high score. Nothing like a little competition to get on the healthy track. Kinda makes those sore muscles worth it. :o)

And for those of you who are trying to shed a few pounds before the holidays start rolling around, every bit counts. Celebrate those one and two pound losses. Here's some equivalents to keep it in perspective...

1 pound = 4 sticks of butter

2 pounds = 6 bananas

And 10 pounds = A new person! :o)

How do you keep it all in perspective when trying to better your lifestyle? Do you celebrate the little weight and inch losses? What keeps you motivated? If you're visiting today, Welcome! Please leave me a comment to let me know you dropped by. :o) And if you want your blog featured in my Thursday Concatenation, be sure to leave your button or blog link with me.
