Not Sew Much

FYI...Check back on Wednesday. I'm going to have a giveaway! :o)

There wasn't as much sewing going on at my house this week. I only managed to complete one panel of curtains for my front room. Front room is also known as the formal living room in the South; though mine is hardly formal...we live here!

One of my boys (don't you just love boys? They don't 'edit' before they speak! LOL) said it looks like I hung a bedsheet. What do you think? Should I continue with my vision of all white, monogrammed curtain panels? Here's photos of the finished panel, in 'Closed' and 'Opened' looks. I like how the monogram shows either way.

Sorry the snaps are dark. After the bug, I realized I need to re-install my photo editing software. I really hope to get the rest of the panels finished today. Keeping my fingers crossed that Life-Doesn't-Get-In-My-Way. Oh, Andrea, if you're reading this, I'm using fabric from my stash! ;o) I may join your Great De-Stash Challenge afterall. If any of you are feeling the need to de-stash, check out Andrea's site: The Train to Crazy

  2. I like that they are not heavy looking curtains. They still let in some soft light and drape very well. Despite what anyone says, if they make you happy, carry on!

  3. My son wants me to make some curtains very similar to yours. What type of fabric did you use? I like how they're so light and airy. Good job!

  11. Kids! Isn't it a shame you can't hang them from the curtain rods? ;-) Your curtains are lovely - I like the monogram and the way they let in the soft light!

  12. Monograms are so wonderful -- and so southern. I love them! The panel looks great!

I know what you mean about boys and editing (or not editing). I love it, though, because "watcha see is watcha get". With females outnumbering males in our house 4-3, it's nice to see that the guys don't beat around the bush and manipulate. They just get to it. (Like when our younger son told us plainly that we "ARE old".)

  13. Yes, males have a tendency to uncensored speech. LOL! Especially if you ask them if they like your new haircut! I think your white monogrammed curtains are lovely and would look wonderful in a master bedroom with matching pillows. Try it, you'll never know unless you do!

  14. I think they look great! I guess to a young boy (or an old man!) they would look like sheets ... my boys would say the same!! But what do they know about decor ... I've been thinking of using drop cloths like I've seen on blogland ... my husband would freak! Ha! I think your curtains are lovely and do love the monogram.

  16. It's simple and beautiful at the same time. Sounds like something my son would say. I like the look and feel to the curtain. It would also make a great shower curtain.
