Materials...60¢ Smile on Kid's Face...Priceless

Check back on Wednesday! I'll be having a Giveaway! :o)

One Pikmin down. Three to go. Actually, it was supposed to be one to go. Son#2 and LittleGirl have put in their requests. The pattern I created is fairly simple. It's turning those little arms and sewing on the hands and feet that's time-consuming! Does anyone else have a child who loves these little guys called Pikmin? If there's enough interest, I'll post a pattern and tutorial. :o)

These are a very cost-effective craft. It was only about 60¢ worth of materials:  2 full sheets of craft felt, a smidge of red felt, and a bit of green felt. I already had the thread. Time-wise, it took about 2 hours from start to finish. I had to draft a pattern, cut out and stitch the pieces, turn out the body, stuff, and stitch the hands, feet, and leaf. The longest part was drafting the pattern and turning the body. The narrow arms were tough! I even have one of those little tube-turner thingies, and still I had trouble with the arms.

The results were great, if I do say so. Son#1 says it's just how he pictured it would be. His smile is worth it all. :o)  I did a bit of surfing and found a site that sells these. I think mine is pretty close! Let me know if you'd like a pattern and tutorial. Leave a comment below. If 10 or more readers want one, I'll work it up and post soon.

  1. Awwww - That is so cute! I've never heard of a Pikmin before. My little one is only 9 months old but he would still probably love it! Thanks for commenting on my blog, by the way! I would enter your Vogue patterns giveaway, but I actually just finished whittling down my own vintage pattern collection and my goal is to sew all of those before trying to acquire more. I will be following your blog, though!

  2. I have never heard of them, but that is really so cute! I can not imagine turning those little arms out, holy moley!

I am stopping by via the 733 link party : )

I love feedback! Leave a comment. I will reply back, though be sure to enable your email address to receive the reply. Thanks! Happy Day!
