Live Creatively

I just read the best verse from Galatians 6 today:

Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don't be impressed with yourself. Don't compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life.

Isn't January when we reflect on the previous year and our hopes for the future? I love this verse and how encouraging it is! It stimulates us to look inward at the spirit of ourselves, really asking God what to do with our lives and use our talents with adroitness and ingenuity.

I also love how in between the verses of encouragement is the sage advice: Don't be impressed with yourself. Don't compare yourself with others. Isn't that how we get into aggrieved situations in the first place? When we put ourselves first or distinguish ourselves among others?

To put these verses in another context: "Examine your life. Use your talents. Make every day your best day."

Whew! That's a big order; however, I know that hearing the answer is just a whisper away. I only need to sit quietly and listen.

Sewing Plans for Today

I am inspired to use my sewing abilities today by making some neck warmers for our local shelter. It's been very, very cold this past week. I have some leftover fleece that is begging to be stitched. I will post my pattern and photos later today. Happy Friday!
